Six (2024)

Since 1878, only two coaches have reached the pinnacle of success at the Stawell Gift five times: Fergie Speakman and Brett Robinson.

For Robinson, winning a sixth title isn’t just about victory; it’s about fulfilling a personal pledge to leave an indelible mark on Australia’s most prestigious race – a promise he made to himself years ago as a runner.

That Race (2026)

It remains one of the most unforgettable moments in Stawell Gift history.

Cathy Freeman, lining up off scratch, giving her competitors handicaps of up to 42 metres, chasing back to back success in the Women’s 400m final at the 1996 Stawell Gift.

What followed was arguably the greatest performance ever seen over 400 metres on grass.
