The Films That Opened Softball Australia's
2026 Broadcasts
Softball Australia’s 2026 international series calendar brought two landmark competitions to Australian audiences. The Softball Australia Cup, a tri-series against Japan and New Zealand, and a historic series against the USA. Both were broadcast nationally on Kayo.
Both needed an opening film that could set the scene, build anticipation, and tell the story of what was at stake before the first pitch was thrown. Fixon Media Group was brought in to deliver them, with short notice and no room for error.

THE CHALLENGE
Broadcast-ready. Fast.
Softball Australia needed both films turned around quickly, with a deadline tied directly to the Kayo broadcast schedule.
There was no shoot day for either project. The footage came entirely from Softball Australia’s own marketing team and footage supplied by other national bodies. Our post production team had to work with what existed, find the story inside it, and build something that felt cinematic and purposeful rather than simply a collection of clips cut to music.
THE sOLUTION
Two films. Two stories. One post production team working fast.
For the Softball Australia Cup tri-series against Japan and New Zealand, the film needed to establish the competitive landscape, introduce the three nations, and build excitement for a competition Australian audiences may not have had much prior exposure to.
For the USA series, the task was different. This was the first ever series between the two nations, a historic milestone that deserved to be framed as such. The film leaned into that significance, contextualising the matchup and giving Kayo viewers a sense of what they were about to watch and why it mattered.
Both films ran at 90 seconds, a format long enough to tell a real story and short enough to hold attention in a broadcast pre-game environment. Every editorial decision, the pacing, the music, the structure, was made with the broadcast context in mind. These were not social clips. They were opening statements for a national audience.
The entire process, from receiving the footage to delivering broadcast-ready masters, was completed at pace without cutting corners on quality.

THE RESULT
Delivered on time. Broadcast on Kayo.
Both hype videos were delivered on schedule and broadcast nationally on Kayo ahead of their respective series. Softball Australia’s response reflected what had become a consistent theme across our work together: fast turnaround, high quality, no surprises.
For a governing body navigating live broadcast obligations with tight production timelines, having a post production partner that can be trusted to deliver under pressure is not a minor thing.
MOVING FORWARD
A partnership built for the big moments.
This project is part of a growing body of work with Softball Australia. Each project has come with its own set of pressures and each one has been delivered to the standard the sport deserves.
As Softball Australia continues to grow its broadcast presence and build toward the 2027 Women’s World Cup Finals in Redcliffe, the content surrounding those moments will matter more than ever.
