Taking Athletics To The Big Screen With Our Feature Documentary "Six"

In 2024, Fixon Media Group embarked on the journey to produce our first feature-length documentary.

After being pitched an idea by the Gold Coast-based elite sprinting squad, Viking Athletics, we were inspired by their quest for greatness and the incredible story behind coach Brett Robinson’s pursuit of a record-breaking sixth victory at the Stawell Gift.

This compelling narrative, filled with resilience, sacrifice, and determination, became the foundation for Six: The Story Behind A History-Making Achievement, a documentary that highlights the relentless spirit of both the athletes and their coach.

The Story Behind The Documentary

Since 1878, only two coaches have won the Stawell Gift five times – Fergie Speakman and Brett Robinson. For Robinson, winning a sixth title is more than just another victory; it’s the fulfillment of a personal pledge made years ago as a runner, aiming to leave a lasting legacy in Australia’s most prestigious race. As the 2024 finals approach, Robinson’s dream is put to the ultimate test when an unprecedented downpour floods the historic grounds of Central Park in Stawell, raising doubts about whether the race will even take place.

Facing this challenge, Robinson and his Viking Athletics squad, based on the Gold Coast, push through their greatest obstacle yet. The film explores the mental and physical toll the squad endures while preparing under extreme pressure. It highlights not only the pursuit of a record-breaking victory but also the fine margins, dedication, and mental fortitude required to succeed at the elite level of athletics.
