In 2024, Fixon Media Group produced its first feature-length documentary. What started as a pitch from Gold Coast-based elite sprinting squad, Viking Athletics, became a film that aired nationally on Fox Sports, Kayo Sports, SBS, and SBS On Demand.
Six is the story of Brett Robinson’s pursuit of a record-breaking sixth victory at the Stawell Gift, and everything that stood in the way.

THE STORY
A coach. A record. A flood.
Since 1878, only two coaches have won the Stawell Gift five times. Fergie Speakman was one. Brett Robinson was the other.
For Robinson, winning a sixth wasn’t just about adding to a record. It was the fulfilment of a personal pledge made years earlier, a promise to leave an indelible mark on Australia’s most prestigious footrace.
Then, on the morning of the 2024 final, the skies opened. An unprecedented downpour flooded the historic grounds of Central Park in Stawell, turning the track into a flood zone and casting doubt on whether the race would happen at all.
Six follows Robinson and the Viking Athletics squad through the 23/24 VAL season; the preparation, the pressure, the competition, and the day everything nearly fell apart.
THE PRODUCTION
500 hours. One season. One story.
Through Fixon Media Group’s ongoing partnership with the Victorian Athletic League, we were embedded across every race meeting throughout the 2023/24 VAL season. That access gave us something most documentaries don’t have; authentic, unguarded footage captured in real time, not reconstructed after the fact.
After the season concluded in April 2024, we travelled to the Gold Coast to conduct interviews with Robinson, Chloe Mannix-Power, and Oliver Wurm, capturing the personal perspectives that gave the race footage its emotional weight.
Post-production took over 500 hours. Every edit, every music choice, every cut was made to craft a film that genuinely moved people who watched it.

COACH
Brett Robinson
A five-time Stawell Gift winner and one of Australia’s most respected athletics coaches. Robinson’s relentless commitment to his athletes and his personal quest for a sixth title is the beating heart of the film.
SPRINTER
Chloe Mannix-Power
A three-time Australian beach sprinting champion and an emerging talent in Australian sprinting. Competing under Robinson’s guidance at Viking Athletics, her journey through the season gives Six much of its emotional centre.
COMMENTATOR
Oliver Wurm
Known as the voice of professional running in Australia, Wurm brings over a decade of experience in the commentary booth. He provides the objective lens through which the broader significance of the Stawell Gift is explored.
THE BROADCAST
From Central Park, to national television.
On March 14, 2025, it was announced that Six had been picked up by Fox Sports Australia. A private screening on the Gold Coast followed on March 26 before the film premiered nationally on Fox Sports and Kayo Sports on April 19, 2025. SBS and SBS On Demand followed on November 1, 2025.
MOVING FORWARD
The film that opened the door.
Six established Fixon Media Group as a documentary production house capable of producing work at a national broadcast standard. It is the first of what we intend to be many.
For Viking Athletics, the film is a permanent record of one of the most remarkable chapters in the history of the Stawell Gift, and a platform that continues to attract new audiences to the sport long after the race was run.
