Announcing A Historic Moment For Softball Australia

Softball Australia is the national governing body for the sport of softball, representing athletes, coaches, and communities across the country.

In 2025, the organisation announced a major milestone – the 2027 Women’s Softball World Cup Finals will be hosted in Redcliffe, Australia. This announcement marks a significant opportunity for the sport, both as a showcase of elite international competition and as a platform to strengthen its bid for inclusion in the 2032 Brisbane Olympics.

To capture this historic moment, Softball Australia partnered with Fixon Media Group to produce a suite of videos that would bring the excitement of the announcement to life and highlight the sport’s proud legacy.

The Challenge

This project wasn’t just about covering a press conference. It was about crafting a narrative that connected past, present, and future.

The videos needed to:

  • Announce the hosting of the 2027 Women’s World Cup Finals in Redcliffe.

  • Highlight the sport’s legacy, including the 1965 Women’s World Cup victory in Melbourne – Australia’s first ever women’s world championship win in any sport.

  • Champion female empowerment and participation in sport.

  • Inspire youth engagement and demonstrate softball’s ongoing national impact.

  • Support Softball Australia’s Olympic advocacy efforts ahead of 2032.

All of this had to be achieved during a 24-hour trip to Redcliffe, where the launch events and media activations were taking place.

The Solution

Our team worked closely with Softball Australia’s marketing department throughout the entire trip, capturing every key moment – from the press conference and stakeholder interviews to the live activations featuring players, executives, and government representatives, including Minister for Sport, Anika Wells.

From this fast-paced shoot, we produced:

  • A 60-second hero video announcing the World Cup Finals, released across all of Softball Australia’s social channels.

  • 7 interview reels featuring players, sponsors, executives, and ministers.

  • 2 short highlight reels showcasing event highlights.

  • A 40-second and 2-minute brand story film featuring all key stakeholders, designed to support Softball Australia’s commercial partnerships and advocacy for Olympic inclusion.

Each video incorporated the sport’s emotional heritage, particularly the 1965 World Cup legacy, while celebrating the modern faces driving the next generation of softball.

The Result

The campaign delivered a strong digital presence for the announcement, with high engagement across Softball Australia’s channels and widespread media coverage following the launch.

The hero film served as a unifying message, connecting the sport’s rich history with its vision for the future. It became a cornerstone piece for stakeholder engagement, government relations, and sponsorship outreach leading into the 2027 event.

Moving Forward

The videos will continue to serve as powerful advocacy tools as Softball Australia prepares to host the 2027 Women’s World Cup Finals.

More than just an announcement, this project represents a story of legacy, empowerment, and national pride. One that positions softball not only as a sport with a remarkable past, but as a vital part of Australia’s sporting future.
